Location: London Hybrid (3 days in office)

Job purpose:

As a valued member of our engineering team, you will contribute to the development of our innovative application using React Native. Working with a modern JavaScript stack, your primary focus will be on coding, testing, and enhancing the functionality of Travelex's and partner applications.

In this role, you will collaborate closely the React Native Lead and team members. While this is primarily an engineering role, we are always looking for developers who have a keen eye for product and who can contribute to the development of features at a product level before they are implemented.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

Code, test, and implement features, enhancements, and tools for Travelex's and partner applications using React Native.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical input during the product development process.
Make critical technical decisions within the codebase, ensuring optimal architecture patterns for speed, security, and reliability.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of coding practices, development processes, and team workflows.
Work closely with the React Native Lead to align development efforts with project goals and timelines.
Provide technical expertise and support to the engineering team, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Participate in code reviews, identifying opportunities for improvement and mentoring junior team members when needed.
Actively contribute to discussions on product features, providing valuable input based on technical considerations.
Troubleshooting and fixing bugs and technical problems.

Skills, knowledge, and experience:

Must have:

5+ years of software development experience
2+ years of professional experience in React Native
Extensive domain knowledge and experience working with React Native.
An interest in working in a client service role and passion for the positive long-term impacts of code health and smooth developer experience, while being sensitive to client goals and timelines
The ability to communicate the benefits of technical solutions to non-technical project partners effectively.
Patience and drive to both learn from and mentor others.

Experience in:

JavaScript, both modern techniques and core concepts
Type systems like TypeScript or Flow
Deep knowledge of React and the surrounding open-source ecosystem.
Git, especially within teams
Testing libraries and methods (Jest/Enzyme/react-testing-library)
Modern mobile/web application stack:
State management with React Context, Redux, React Hooks
Build tooling (Webpack & Metro bundler)
React Navigation or React Native Navigation/React Router.
