Senior Buyer

A retail market leader who have a significant presence across the UK are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Senior Buyer to lead their Garden & Electrical category. This is a key role responsible for shaping product ranges, driving profitability, and delivering trend-led, high-quality collections that resonate with customers.
You will need a strong eye for product, a deep understanding of seasonal trends and electrical innovation, and the ability to balance creativity with commercial performance. Working closely with suppliers and cross-functional teams, you’ll play a critical role in developing and executing the category strategy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and deliver the buying strategy for Garden & Electrical, aligned with overall business goals
- Source, select, and develop commercially successful product ranges across garden and electrical categories
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating cost prices, terms, and lead times
- Analyse sales data, market trends, and customer insights to inform decisions
- Manage budgets, forecasts, and margins to achieve financial targets
- Collaborate with merchandising, design, and marketing teams to ensure cohesive product launches
- Lead and mentor junior buying team members
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer within electrical, garden, or a related category
- Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering profitable ranges
- Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills
- Strong understanding of electrical product trends, compliance, and innovation
- Highly analytical with the ability to interpret data and act on insights
- Strong leadership and team development capabilities
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
The salary is paying up to £90,000
