We are delighted to share that we are recruiting for ambitious and hard-working Senior Assistant Buyers to join our dynamic Ladieswear team here at Tesco. Tesco is a leading multinational retailer and as an Senior Assistant Buyer at Tesco, you will play a huge role within the team. Working alongside a Buying Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring we plan and deliver the most commercial and profitable ranges to meet our Customer’s needs.

There is a Fixed Term Contract and Permanent opportunity available for this role.

You will be responsible for:

Customer and Product:

Use knowledge of customers, trends and competitors to make recommendations on the development of product and packaging.
Demonstrate ability to develop and deliver consistently successful ranges for an agreed category with the support of my BM.
Negotiate creatively to maximise margin and density without jeopardising flexibility, quality or supplier relationships.
Support on B4L where applicable.
Broaden network engaging with costing engineers.
Have an understanding of IRI.
Successfully sign off a product area within department strategy.
Have an understanding of the manufacturing and production process by utilising the learning on offer.
Confidently deputise for Buyer or BM when required.
Lead training masterclasses for BAs and MPD/MPP systems.
Take on projects, work across wider teams.
Engage stakeholders to deliver a combined goal.

Trade and Planning:

Can understand and articulate trade confidently and make informed decisions without support of BM.
Contribute and lead part of the department strategy end to end.
Understand top line trade, not just own department.
Comprehensive competition knowledge and makes recommendations for own range but also for wider division.
Know how to plan strategically &own part of the range and see buying cycle through from start to finish.
Know how to present with impact and gravitas.
Support a new supplier set up end to end.
Shadow & understand margin effects for your department.
Shadow & have a clear understanding of supplier roll for your department.

You will need:

Build and manage strong relationships with all stakeholders and develop relationships with potential stakeholders in wider Tesco.
Build strong relationships with supplier and hubs and strategically managing my supply base.
Consistently Influencing and collaborating, sharing my knowledge when part of a group/project to drive and lead the outcome.
Trade planning.
Data analysis.
Microsoft Office.
Retail Maths knowledge.
Clear presentation skills.
