Head of Operations (North) - The Cafe

You will take full ownership and accountability for the performance of 150 Tesco Cafes, comprising a team of 1200 team members, 225 Team leaders, 150 Cafe Managers and 8 Operations Managers. Your passion is business performance and people development. You will also be a member of the Cafe Leadership team and will have a role in forming company strategy and delivering company objectives.

You will be responsible for:

Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures:

Customer Experience

Ensure the safe & secure operation of all operational activities across your Cafes
You will champion the delivery of great drink & food, ensuring delivery is spot on, efficient and something our guests will love every time
Encourage your teams to gather guest feedback & interact with our guests
Analyse guest feedback & financial results to create solutions for business improvement
Ensure the brand standards & menus are delivered expertly throughout your team Develop your team
Deliver training, coaching & communication that improves your team’s confidence and performance
Take ownership for your teams’ internal & external reputation
Create, communicate and lead your team ensuring todays activity supports our future plans.
Successful succession & talent planning for your team is in place and actively encouraged
Focus your training efforts on service productivity & driving incentives with your team

Business Management

Drive sales & increase profits by engaging and interacting with your Operations Managers empowering them to do the same with their team
Deliver a flawless P&L through the leadership of your Operations Managers and Cafe General Managers
Review individual Cafe and Operations Manager sales performances, identify improvements & create business plans with Operations Managers to maximise results and service
Review trends & adjusting consumable budgets accordingly
Build cross-sector & cross-functional relationships to help you day to day

You will need:

Operational skills relevant for this job:

Proven track record of delivering great results through multi-site teams
Passion for food creation and quality delivery
Tenacity, drive and energy to keep seeking out the best possible outcome
Ability to work as a team with the other Head of Operations, sharing best practice and seeking support when necessary
Evidence of creating & developing successful teams who consistently deliver brand expectations
Proof of Living & breathing guest service
Evidence of making good decisions under pressure
Inherent understanding of our Cafés; having an affinity with the offer and its future
Examples of an ability to create a vision and engage your teams to deliver required results
Understanding of central functions and how they can support your teams

Experience relevant for this job:

Multi-site management experience, working in branded hospitality operations like Cafes, quick service, food service etc.
Ability to work across a broad geography managing time and effectiveness at all times
