A chance to work in a business steeped in French tradition and to work with an established finance team assisting the Head of Finance on a day to day basis in a 6 month temp to perm position.

Responsible for ensuring that the accounting records are maintained in accordance with accounting standards and guidelines, Company Law and tax laws. Ensuring that all internal reports required are produced and published on agreed time scales. Supervise and support the finance team to perform its duties, ensuring adequate staff cover at all times. Full reconciliation of accounts.

Key Objectives

To oversee production and check accuracy of all required periodic and annual management accounts.
Management and training of Junior team members.
Full balance sheet reconciliation with appropriate supporting back up.
Ensuring robust financial controls are always in place.
Payroll processing with external payroll processing company.
Supporting Head of Finance in other tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Preparing and processing of month end journals.
Complying with Accounting, Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise regulations, including preparation and submission of VAT return.
Preparation of monthly management accounts.
Ensuring accounting records are maintained in an accurate manner.
Reviewing bank reconciliation.
Full balance sheet reconciliation on a monthly basis.
Maintaining Fixed Asset register.
Managing, motivating, training, supporting and developing staff.
Reviewing the structure of the department to ensure that it provides a 1st class service.
Ensure appropriate training and development of all team members.
Conduct regular appraisals of team in line with company cycle.
Manage and review performance of team as appropriate.
Conduct regular 1-1 team reviews.

Confident and self-motivated.
Excellent academic record preferably demonstrating numeric skills.

Skills and Technical Requirements

Professionally part/ qualified accountant, ACCA or CIMA
Some experience of working in industry preferred.
Team management experience is required.
Strong technical skills.
Accurate and attentive to detail.
Sage experience is preferred.
Fourth payroll experience is preferred.
