Construction Project Manager (Building Surveyor)

Knightsbridge

Employer: Harrods

Salary: Competitive

Reference: VAC- 36603/183

Date added: 1 day ago

We’re looking for an experienced Construction Project Manager, with a building surveying background, to join our Store Development team at Harrods.

The team of construction experts work directly with external and internal clients - and their million and multi-million budgets - to create immensely stunning spaces full of creativity and luxury. With this comes challenges – the lighting, aesthetics, functionality, technicality, feel and sound, and this team of experts know how to provide the most pristine solutions.

About the Role

Reporting into the Senior Project Manager, this new role has been created to lead the design and build of key infrastructure projects such as installing stock automation at Thatcham, a power resilience project in the Knightsbridge store and a major kitchen development, amongst others. These will be across the Knightsbridge store, our distribution centre in Thatcham, and our offices in Hammersmith, requiring weekly travel to each site.

As a Project Manager, you will have demonstrable experience of leading projects cradle to grave; you know how to manage contractors, advise on building technology and design, develop briefs with clients, select teams, tender with consultants and manage all works on site, all the way through to supply chain management – whilst continuously keeping the client informed and
satisfied.

You will also bring M&E knowledge, so you can partner our in-house M&E experts effectively to provide the right solutions to our clients. You will manage all financial aspects of the projects, including Harrods capital, supplier and combined funded projects.

About You

You will ideally have a degree (or equivalent experience) in a construction-related discipline, such as building surveying or construction management and either have an MRICS qualification or be on your way to becoming chartered.

You’ll also have:

Experience with infrastructure projects, mixed use or public use, with good knowledge of M&E.
A uniquely keen eye for detail – you don’t let anything go unnoticed.
Practical experience on site with the ability to guide and drive teams of technical experts.
Excellent organisation and time management ability.
Very strong communication and collaboration skills.
