Construction Contracts Manager
Knightsbridge
Our Store Development Team are now looking for a Construction Contracts Manager to join them. You will manage up to 150 contractors per shift end-end, from preparing for their arrival- answering email queries and preparing passes, to greeting them on the day, advising on health and safety protocols and overseeing their work in line with Harrods guidelines to guiding them around and being their key point of contact through their time at Harrods. Alongside this you will support our wider teams with any clients and visitors we invite to store.
Sitting at the heart of the business you will be liaising with all of our teams to make things happen, so strong relationship and communication skills along with excellent organisation is key to thriving in this role.
About the Role
In this role you will act as the Harrods representative/first point of call for all Building Contractors in respect of access control and logistics. You will be there to assist and guide them through all the procedures and processes so must be
professional and respectful at all times.
This is such a varied role meeting so many different people, and a blend of having good construction knowledge with the adaptability to translate this in a large luxury department store like Harrods is key, no day will be the same and you will thrive if you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment meeting lots of different people from all walks of life and keeping things organised.

Work as part of the daytime team responsible for logistics, site inductions, pass.
Control and monitoring construction sites to ensure there is no business impact to trade.
Inspect each construction site prior to trading to ensure that the previous night’s work has been completed or areas are hoarded accordingly in respect of any incomplete construction site works, ensure hoardings are repainted if necessary.
Perform regular inspections of the store, refurbishment sites and any entry/exit point that the Building Contractors’ may use (including the roof, trading doors, lift landings, tunnels and Trevor Square), ensuring that these areas remain free of Building Contractors’ rubbish/materials. Highlight any issues in respect of the construction site works to the relevant PM.
Work with and assist Project Managers in ensuring all site issues raised by health and safety are rectified by the Principal Contractors immediately.
Create and monitor the day work and weekend work activity sheets and compile a factually accurate report to senior management, Security Department, Fire Department and various other departments.
Organise and chair site induction meetings for all new Building Contractors’ to explain the procedures and processes contained within Harrods Specification.
Input and update Building Contractors’ passes after checking they have a CSCS card.
Liaise with Security Department and Store Distribution Department to arrange delivery via loading bay or trading doors (only if necessary) for all Building Contractors’ deliveries.
About You
You will be well organised, and able to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
You will be an excellent problem solver, able to remain calm under pressure putting in place the most appropriate solutions.
You will have…
Ideally gained good experience/understanding of the different areas of construction from working on site in a construction environment.
Be well organised, with experience dealing with both internal and external teams of different levels.
Excellent communication skills, you will be approachable but also confident to move a situation forward when needed.
Have a good telephone manner and be computer literate (word and excel), further training will be provided.
Excellent time-management skills and the ability and willingness to multi-task.
Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing priorities
Please note:
This role is working day shifts 4 days on 4 days off, 7am-7pm.
As we run a 24-7 hour operation you will sometimes be required to cover night shifts when there are team holiday/absences- on these occasions you will work the night shift rather than the day shift, not both.
When covering night shifts, you will be paid an extra allowance in line with working unsociable hours.
There is also the opportunity for over time and shift swaps- over time is paid time and a half.
You are entitled to 33 days holiday per year.
