Due to the second warmer autumn in a row, fashion retailers are already giving discounts on coats and knitwear.

Figures show that in the week to November 8th, retailers suffered a 6.6% drop in sales compared to the same period in 2014.

Retailers such as Debenhams are offering up to half price on knitwear, M&S have 20% off coats and jackets, whilst BHS, Oasis, Burton and Dorothy Perkins are offering around 30% off.

National head of retail at BDO, Sophie Michael, said: “There is a sense that retailers have managed their stocks more efficiently this year but with like-for-like numbers struggling, they will no doubt be considering their promotional activity as Black Friday looms and the savvy consumer holds out for stronger promotions.”

Despite the heavy winds and rain, the Met Office has said: “Overall [temperatures] should average out at near or slightly above normal for the time of year.”
