Waitrose has revealed its 2015 Christmas advertising campaign, which features a series of different families preparing for Christmas, set to the original 1948 jazz song 'Everybody Eats When They Come To My House' by Cab Calloway.
The ad uses the campaign line 'Whatever makes your Christmas, make it with Waitrose' and was created by the ad agency adam&eve/DBB, who have been behind the series of successful John Lewis adverts published since 2011.
The advert contains some of the supermarket’s suppliers, including the producer of Waitrose's cave-aged cheddar from Wookey Hole and the Waitrose farm in Leckford, as well as a cameo from chef Heston Blumenthal as he adds the final touch to his Chocolate Bucks Fizz Swirl. This will be available in Waitrose branches during the festive period.
The full 60 second advert launched on November 4th on the retailer's social media channels and Waitrose.com, will be shown on TV for the first time on Sunday 8th November.
Marketing director at Waitrose, Rupert Thomas, said: “We celebrate with food, we unwind with food, we get to know each other with food. Delicious things to eat make the moments that matter even more memorable, especially at Christmas.”
Richard Brim, executive creative director at adam&eveDDB, said: ”Our advert for Waitrose celebrates all those little moments that make Christmas Christmas, and nine out of ten times, it's all about the food.”
Waitrose will also be encouraging people to share ‘what #MakesChristmas for them’ for the chance to win a prize. Throughout November and December people are in with a chance to win the 'ultimate Christmas dinner' for 12 people with all the trimmings, including food from Waitrose Entertaining, wines from Waitrose Cellar and dinnerware from the recently launched WaitroseKitchen.com.
