Travel operator, Virgin Holidays has announced it has launched a new concept store, with the first one opening at Bluewater shopping centre.

The new store’s approach to travel retail has been designed to arouse the customers’ senses with tastes of the world’s best holidays and its scents.

Other features that are included in the new store are a themed ‘island bar’ for drinks and relaxation, and a huge world map which stretches across one wall, as well as a ‘concierge’ to meet and greet the customers when entering the store.

The store will also feature interactive products such as a beach panorama in Antigua, a show reel of the top 10 city breaks and a street scene in Havana.

Director of sales at Virgin Holidays, Lee Haslett, said: “At Virgin Holidays we like to do things differently, so while most stores are designed to sell, sell, sell – that isn’t the top of our agenda. We want to provide a retail space that is designed to inspire consumers through immersive experiences. You’d be very welcome to drop by for a drink and marvel at the world around you through some of the very best ground breaking technology.”

The new store will see more staff being employed to help customers improve their experience.

Bluewater’s general manager, Robert Goodman, said: “Virgin Holidays is another great addition to Bluewater’s line-up of leading brands. Their pioneering retail concept is also a great fit with our philosophy of creating statement stores that focus on delivering a unique experience. We are confident the ground breaking new store will inspire our guests.”
