Uniqlo has announced plans to expand into the Italian market next year.

Its first Italian store will open in Milan next autumn.

The store will be located in the heart of the city in Piazza Cordusio, and will offer clothing for men, women and children over three different storeys.

Tadashi Yanai, UNIQLO founder and chairman and president and chief executive of Fast Retailing, said: "We are extremely honoured and proud to be launching in Italy in 2019. Milan is one of the world’s most important and well-respected fashion capitals, enjoying a long standing culture of craftsmanship as well as sophisticated and elegant design. We hope that the Milanese public and international visitors will embrace UNIQLO and make it theirs.”

The plans come after the brand launched into the Netherlands in September this year, making Italy its 10th market in Europe.  They also plan to launch in Denmark in the spring of 2019.
