Plans to build a new Westfield shopping centre in Croydon continue to be delayed as they are still pursuing an agreement with John Lewis to set up a flagship department store in their proposed supermall. The delay adds to the ongoing list of concerns for the mall which include economic uncertainty, issues for Croydon such as crime and reputation, difficulty with access, few signs of improved infrastructure (road or tram) and issues around high rise developments. The negotiations with John Lewis seem to be the key point with regards to progress on the plans and it is unlikely that any official plans will be submitted before these talks are finished.
