Unemployment in the UK has fallen by 28,000 between November and January to 1,68 million according to new figures released by the Office for National Statistics. The unemployment rate was 5.1%, lower than for a year earlier (5.7%) as it remained at a decade-low rate.
Meanwhile, the employment rate is 74.1%, the joint highest since current records began in 1971. Average weekly earnings for employees in Great Britain increased by 2.1% including bonuses and by 2.2% excluding bonuses compared with a year earlier.
