In the midst of a slowing economy, British retailers saw the biggest increase in like-for-like sales in June since 2011. Accountancy firm BDO said according to its monthly High Street Sales Tracker, sales rose by 1.3% for the month with fashion sales up by 1.4% and homeware sales were up 0.5%. Despite the positive figures, the firm also noted that "this growth was off a negative base of -3.6 percent for the same month last year, but after four months with no growth, this might offer a ray of sunshine to UK retailers."
