A recent survey showed that British shops had a dip in sales last month, with fashion retailers enduring their worst July for eight years. The rise in inflation has slowed Britain's economy since last year's Brexit vote and modest pay growth has squeezed consumers' real earnings. Accountancy and business advisory firm BDO said its monthly High Street Sales Tracker found overall like-for-like store sales fell 0.6% in July, having risen by 1.3% in June.
