Tesco saw a 2.2% increase in total spending across their stores in Northern Ireland, based on a year to the end of January. The chain now has a market share of 34.7%, thereby continuing its presence as the market leader in the country. Competitors Lidl have had a small increase in their market share up to 5.2%, whereas Sainsbury’s fell from 17.7 %to 17.2% in the last year. Aldi have now rise above Co-operative to become the 5th largest supermarket chain in the UK.
