The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) have announced they will launch a formal investigation to the proposed merger deal between Tesco and wholesaler, Booker. Worth £3.8bn, the move was announced at the end of January sparking objections from many competitors who suggested the move would give the supermarket too much control over the sector. Sources have been quoted as saying that the CMA may intervene and order the disposal of One Stop as part of a package of remedial measures.
