Iceberg lettuce and other British grown salad produce are returning to supermarkets, marking the end of the crisis brought on after bad weather conditions resulted in poor Spanish harvests. Some chains such as Tesco and Morrisons are offering the items at a reduced price of 50p, making them cheaper than the usual cost of items imported from the US and Spain. The salad season usually begins in the middle of May; however positive weather conditions have resulted in earlier harvests for the produce.
