Department store John Lewis saw its sales rise 4.7% year-on-year last week with ongoing clearance items and warm weather products performing well.
Figures show that sales increased 9.6% in fashion for menswear and womenswear, with sandals and sunglasses doing well. Other categories that performed well included a 3% growth in electricals and home technology, with strong sales in headphones.
Communication technology also saw a rise of 15.4%, as well as home sales with a slight increase of 1.7% in comparison the corresponding week in 2015. Gifts, beds and home accessories were amongst the best performing departments, with special buy products and summer clearance also selling well.
