Results from Kantar Worldpanel show that Sainsbury’s outperformed the other ‘big four’ grocers.
In November, the company said that it had delivered operating cost savings of £115 million in the first half of the year. Full year cost savings are now expected to be around £225 million and the group said it is on track to deliver £500 million cost savings over the next three years.

Meanwhile, data from Kantar Worldpanel showed that Sainsbury’s sales rose 0.6% in the 12 weeks to January 31st with market share increasing 0.1% points to 16.8%.

Kantar Worldpanel said sales in the overall UK grocery market rose 0.2%, while deflation was 1.6%.
