Sainsbury’s, Britain’s second biggest supermarket, has revealed that it will be trialling its one-hour home delivery service, similar to Amazon’s. The trial, named Chop Chop will take place in the Wandsworth district to begin with and there will be a delivery fee of £4.99.

The trail will be available to shoppers who live in a three kilometre radius of the Wandsworth store and they are permitted to order up to 20 items for delivery within the hour via an app on iPads or iPhones.

Sainsbury's chief executive Mike Coupe has said the company could see potential demand for having a basket of food delivered in such a short amount of time, and this would be complimented by the supermarket chain's nationwide store network and the range of products they offer.
