Several retailers have warned that a no deal Brexit carries the risk of leaving shelves empty and could lead to higher prices.

The warning comes in a letter from the British Retail Consortium and is signed by retailers including Sainsbury’s, Asda and McDonalds.

The letter comes ahead of the crucial votes in Parliament today.

According to the BBC, the letter states that there will be ‘significant risks’ to maintaining the choice, quality and shelf life of food.
