The regeneration of Paddington Quarter costing £775 million has been recommended for authorisation that could see the area’s retail division entirely revived.
Westminster Council will make a decision on Tuesday whether the transformative development will be approved.
The new area will cover 80,000 sq ft of retail space and 4000 new jobs will be created and will be centred around the historic Royal Mail sorting office, which also includes £65 million directed to renovating the Grade I listed station and will pump £350 million into the economy each year.
Plans were originally made for a “skinny shard” to be built which would be 72 storeys above the London location; however a newly suggested cube building will take its place which will be made completely of glass and steel and will house 3500 staff.
