Primark is set to open its first Midwestern store in downtown Chicago. The company has signed terms for 45,000 square foot building on the corner of State and Washington streets, which was formerly a Gap.
The unit has been empty for two years, and the owner of the property where said to be considering knocking the building down and building a high-rise.
This is a strong move for Primark, and will drive foot traffic to the surrounding area. Anyone who wants its products will have to visit the store because the company is yet to establish an online presence. Rumours surrounding the launch of a webstore also come with suggestions that it will only offer click and collect as its main delivery option, further driving traffic to the store.
