Budget clothing retailer Primark have put plans to take over an old BHS store in Southend, due to concerns about the safety and welfare of pedestrians in the wake of downsizing public footpaths to accommodate vehicles. Southend’s councillor for culture, tourism, and economy stated that she was disappointed in the news as “Woolworths went, BHS went, and all we have at that part of town, department store-wise, is Marks and Spencer and Debenhams.”
