British food manufacturer Premier Foods has raised the prices on some of its items due to the Brexit vote and the consequential fluctuations in the value of the pound. The move, which other food manufacturers such as Unilever have also taken, is an attempt to counteract the fall in value that has occurred since the June referendum. Amongst the products which are likely to see increased prices are Oxo cubes, Mr Kipling cakes and Bisto gravy, though the brand also owns Homepride, Batchelors and Ambrosia rice pudding. The news is amongst a spate of recent figures, such as a 0.2% rise in grocery prices, which suggest that household budgets may come under pressure in 2017 as a result.
