Planet Organic have sold a majority stake in its business to Scottish private equity firm, Inverleith.

The deal is said to be worth around £15 million, and will see the founder, Renee Elliott severely reduce her holdings.

Inverleith has said that it plans to grow the business by opening a number of stores over the next five years.  They currently have 7 stores across London, and were founded in 1995.

Inverleith chairman Ben Thomson said: “This is an interesting time of change for the high street with shoppers wanting more community-based shopping. Consumers are looking for an experience when they shop and for real knowledge about the products offered.

"This is the sort of shopping that is the future of the high street and we are pleased to helping Planet organic to open in other locations around London."
