Brewing giant AB InBev has agreed the sale of its European lager brands Peroni and Grolsch as well as London’s Meantime Brewery to Japan’s Asahi to stem competition concerns in the wake of its takeover by SAB Miller.
In a statement, AB InBev said: “The acquisition by Asahi of these premium brands and related businesses (comprised of the Peroni, Grolsch and Meantime brand families and related businesses in Italy, the Netherlands, the UK and internationally) is conditional on the successful closing of the recommended acquisition of SABMiller by AB InBev as announced on 11 November 2015.”
