In the midst of the announcement of sales figures from several high street retailers, the online sellers are expected to declare increased sales during this period. Clothing sites such as ASOS, who are expected to report a 30% year-by-year increase, and Boohoo, who are expected to report a 40% increase in the same period, seem likely to benefit greatly from shoppers deciding to do their holiday shopping online. These companies are able to respond quickly to changes in fashion trends, and the rise in customer’s confidence in items arriving in time for Christmas, have both in part contributed to the increases over the holidays. The strongest performers continue to be amongst those with significant online presence, a trend which we may see continue as more retailers announce their sales figures this week.
