It has been revealed that the founder of Space NK, Nicky Kinnaird has been appointed as a non-executive director at Debenhams.
With Ms Kinnaird becoming the fourth female board member, the company is bolstering its focus on its beauty sector with plans to increase its sales until it accounts for a fifth of its overall revenue.
Sir Ian Cheshire, chairman of Debenhams, said: “We are very pleased that Nicky is joining the board. She brings a wealth of experience and understanding in brand development and the global beauty industry.
“Her knowledge and expertise will be invaluable as Debenhams embarks on the next stage of its development under new leadership.”
The appointment comes as Mr Cheshire plans to restructure the senior management at Debenhams, so as well as hiring Ms Kinnaird, in October Sergio Bucher joined from Amazon and Lisa Myers joined the board in September.
Ms Kinnaird sold her business in 2014.
