If you’re on your way to work, been out in the cold and need warming up or you just simply want a caffeine fix, then you might want to consider popping down to your local Sainsburys to try out their new '1869 coffee' stalls they have just recently opened. The name '1869 coffee' is making reference to the date when Sainsburys first opened their stores. Some of the many items you can purchase there are; Own brand coffees and teas as well as pastries and cakes to take away. There will also be hot panninis is some locations for all you pannini lovers!

The bars are run by Sainsburys staff who have been given specialist barista training so expect the upmost service when purchasing a nice warm brew.

Also if you wanted to "spice things up" (their words not mine) then you could even try some of their seasonal specials throughout the year. Of course with Christmas on the horizon there will be some new tasty blends available, these include honeycomb latte, black forest hot chocolate and gingerbread latte...OH and of course some mince pies will be on offer too.

According to reports from Mintel, the UK coffee shop market has risen by 37% over the last five years.

The director of fresh foods Mr Adrian Cook said “By giving our customers the chance to grab and go a range of hot drinks and snacks at the front of the store, we are differentiating our in-store offer and delivering a great value takeaway experience. It’s an exciting opportunity for us to listen and understand how our customers respond to a new trial like this.”

Customers in Sainsbury’s stores in West Green, Cambridge Eddington, Slough, Watford and Alton can already pay a visit to the bars while the Sainsbury’s Armada Way store in Plymouth is due to kick off the service this week.

The bars will be open seven days a week with opening times varying from store to store.
