It has been reported that outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse and TV explorer/presenter Steve Backshall, will be teaming up to produce a new range of outdoor clothing for kids.

The new range will be available from this month and will include two limited edition collections for children between five and 13, a spring/summer collection which will have items such as shorts, walking boots and backpacks; prices will vary from £9.99 for a water bottle to £69.99 for boots.
Mr Backshall commented: "I'm thrilled to have teamed up with Mountain Warehouse to create this new children's range and can't wait for the designs to hit the shelves. This collection can act as a real tool to get kids outside and active.”

Responding, founder and chief executive, Mark Neale, said: “Children’s clothing already makes up over 15% of the company’s sales.” He added: “We’re delighted to have partnered with Steve on this project. The products available are further evidence of our strategy to ‘weatherproof’ the business so it is no longer dependent on cold, wet weather and, like all Mountain Warehouse products, the range is made to a high standard and is excellent value for money.”

The company, who originally started out in 1997 with one store, now has 228 stores and has reported record sales for the six months to the end of August 2015 of £59.3million and record festive sales which increased 28.6% and online sales shot up 49.2%.
