Mothercare’s UK sales have dropped drastically. The retailer has blamed ‘challenging’ conditions.
The company has also blamed negative press surrounding their restructure in May for the 11.1% drop in sales.
The group is currently in the middle of a store closure programme, having already closed 20, with 36 more planned for closure before Christmas.
The programme will see the group left with around 80 stores by April 2019.
Mark Newton-Jones, Mothercare chief executive, said: "The first half of the year has been particularly challenging for the business. This is set against at backdrop of a weakening consumer market, which was further compounded by the stresses Mothercare found itself in financially."
