Matalan has opened two stores in Malta and two in Gibraltar, as it prepares for further store launches in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Armenia and Bahrain this year.
The British retailer said the new stores in Malta and Gibraltar offer 80 new jobs within their respective areas, and bring Matalan’s international franchise store count to 29.
Matalan said it had plans to enter new countries in 2019 and beyond.
International director Damian Hopkins said: “Matalan’s great product offer, harnessed with our outstanding value for the family and home, give us a unique proposition which often isn’t very well catered for in many countries.
“As a result our international stores are performing very well, and we are delighted to be bringing this outstanding quality and value to modern families across the globe.”
In the UK, Matalan currently operates 217 stores.
