Marks & Spencer has hired Harriet Hounsell as its new HR director. Hounsell will join the business from McDonalds as a part of efforts to overhaul the corporate culture and unlock growth.
She will replace David Guise, who left the business in May.
Hounsell’s appointment is set to shake up what has been described by Rowe as a ‘business held back by deeply entrenched cultural norms’.
In the year ending March 30th March 2019, the company posted a 3% decline in revenue to £10.3 billion and 9.9% drop in pre-tax profit to £523 million.
