Marks & Spencer has appointed former Sainsbury’s chief executive, Justin King, as its new non-exec director.
King will begin his role on January 1st, and will also join the retailers nomination committee.
King stood down from his role at Sainsbury’s in 2014, after over 10 years in the position.
He previously worked at M&S on the development of their Simply Food offering, and was also on the leadership team responsible for the turnaround of Asda.
Steve Rowe, M&S chief executive, said: “I am delighted that Justin has agreed to join us. As we navigate the challenges ahead it will be enormously helpful to have his experience, wisdom and insight on the board. Many colleagues remember his time at M&S and will warmly welcome him back.”
