The UK’s biggest wine specialist, Majestic Wine has agreed to pay its workers the voluntary living wage, higher than the statutory figure that was recently announced by the government.

Majestic Wine, along with 2,600 other employers pays £9.40 per hour in London and £8.25 outside London and is the first national alcohol retailer to become an accredited employer of the Living Wage Foundation.

Louise Ellis, Majestic Wine people director, said: “I’m very proud that Majestic is now an accredited employer of the Living Wage Foundation and I hope other retailers follow.”
