Majestic Wine has appointed Greg Hodder as non-executive director, to join the board today (1 October 2015).
Greg Hodder was formerly chief executive of Charles Tyrwhitt and Direct Wines boss. Majestic Wines said his experience in multi-channel retailing in particular “will provide additional insight to the Group” as they aim to restore their sparkle.
Majestic Wines’ new boss Rowan Gormley is aiming to revitalise the business following a period of lacklustre sales as supermarket competition intensifies.
The retailer acquired Naked Wines earlier this year, which Rowan Gormley led before assuming the role of chief executive at group level.
Rowan Gormley said, “We are delighted to have secured such an experienced and highly-recommended appointment to the Board. Greg’s past experience will provide us with additional high-level strategic and operational support as we grow the business.”
Majestic Wines said Greg Hodder’s “extensive senior management experience” will further support the Board “as the company moves forward to the next stage of its strategic development”.
