Lululemon has appointed Calvin McDonald as its new chief executive. Due to take up his new role on 20 August, McDonald has worked as president and chief executive of Americas for LVMH owned Sephora for the last five years. While there he increased the brand’s product range, created new digital platforms and store experiences, and expanded the company’s presence into new markets such as Brazil and Mexico.

Prior to joining Sephora, McDonald spent two years as president and chief executive of Sears Canada and worked for 17 years with Loblaw Companies, Canada’s largest retail group. At Loblaw he led a business unit with approximately 40,000 employees and $15 billion in annual revenue.

Glenn Murphy, chairman of the board of directors of Lululemon, said: “Calvin McDonald has an impressive track record leading organisations through periods of significant growth and innovation. He is the ideal match for the Lululemon brand and culture given his strong consumer mindset, performance-driven approach, and success developing people.”
