Lidl, the popular discount supermarket has revealed it is investing £50 million in its Scottish property portfolio over a period of 12 months which will employ 300 new staff.
Included in the investment will a refurbishment and expansion of 10 outlets in Scotland, as well as opening new concept stores which will have environmentally-friendly technology in locations such as Stirling, Partick, Oban, Greenock and Hawick and three in Slateford, Edinburgh in Broughton and Craigmillar.
Ross Millar, Scottish managing director, said: “Our planned investment over the next 12 months signifies our commitment to Scotland.”
“We have also set up a dedicated buying team in Scotland and we are working towards sourcing over 25 per cent of our products from Scottish suppliers.”
