Lidl have put in place plans for an additional 50 to 60 new supermarkets as it aims to continue to be Britain’s fastest growing grocer. The plans come as part of a £1.5bn investment into the company, with the aim of adding to its current 670 UK stores up to a goal of 1,500. The company grew by 18.8% in the 12 weeks to June 18th whilst rival grocer Aldi grew by 18.7%, with the two now accounting for 11.9% of the market.
