High street department store, John Lewis reported as substantial increase in sales in the wake of the release of their spring/summer collectionin addition to their Christmas clearance sale. The store’s home department reported a sales increase of 9.5%, with the sale period for the department being extended until the end of January. The fashion department also reported an increase in sales, up by 3% helping to take spending across stores for the week ending January 21st to £77.4m. Online sales now make up 40% of the total, with John Lewis Partnership owned chain Waitrose announced revenues rising by 2.1% to £120.44m.
