John Lewis sales were up by 1.8% last week from the same period last year.

Fashion sales were up by 5.6% as their own brand womenswear continued to impress at a growth of 9.6%.

Electrical and home technology has also contributed to the growth, with a 4.1% increase.  This is largely down to the popularity of the latest Apple releases.

The retailers recently launched own brand Find, Keep, Give collection performed well, as homeware sales were down by 5.4%.  This comes despite an 8% growth in the department stores own brand House range.
