John Lewis saw fashion sales rise by 15.5% after the retailer achieved a 34.5% uplift in womenswear sales. Its denim lifestyle brand AND/OR was a stand-out performer. Beauty, wellbeing and leisure also had a strong week with sales up 13.4%.

Home sales climbed by 11% as the textiles and home accessories category saw sales growth of 16.3%. Furniture and flooring also achieved an uplift of 8.4%.

Electricals and home technology sales rose by 2.1%. Tablets and computers enjoyed a particularly strong week with sales up 23% driven by sales of the MacBook Air and 10 inch iPads. Sales within the vision category also saw double digit growth as trade was boosted by the launch of the new Samsung chrome TV.
