It has been reported that department store John Lewis saw its sales increase 3.5% year-on-year making its total sales £165.6million.
As well as in store, johnlewis.com also saw an increase from last year of 13.6% and parcel deliveries rose 22.4%.
Director of selling, north and new formats at John Lewis, Maggie Porteous, said: "At the beginning of the week sales were driven by the final days of price matching our competitors' Black Friday activity through our Never Knowingly Undersold commitment. Shops were busy as customers took advantage of our 'my John Lewis' events."
Figures show that fashion led the way with sales increasing 5.7% which included menswear, accessories and women’s handbags, with home technology and electricals continuing its success from Black Friday with a further 2.8% in sales.
Sales in Christmas trees and decorations also benefited from a 1.9% rise.
Ms Porteus added: "Our 'my John Lewis' events have been well received as customers ensure they have everything they need for the festive period. We expect this trend to continue as we count down to Christmas."
