John Lewis fashion sales were up 2.6% as knitwear had a record week with sales up by 35%. Menswear sales also saw healthy growth with sales rising by 6.6%.
Home technology and electrical sales were down 0.6% year-on-year however sales of Dyson supersonic hairdryers were once again the bestselling electrical item. Headphones, mobile phones and wearable tech products achieved record sales.
Homeware sales dropped 1.3% despite sales in the upholstery category climbing by 18%. Gifting achieved a record week for the retailer with food gifts selling particularly well. Sales in the retailer’s Christmas Shops also saw an increase of 8%.
