John Lewis’ sales were down 0.9% year on year last week to £89.1 million.
The week’s warmer weather impacted fashion sales, which were down 2.7%. However, the retailer’s own brand Kin range had a strong week with sales up 55% compared to last year.
Home sales fell by 2.5% even with a strong performance from John Lewis’s Christmas Villages and a 30% uplift in sales of Halloween items.
Electricals and home technology sales increased by 2.4%, driven by buoyant sales in the communication technology category. Apple products, including Macbooks and iPhones 8 and 6, performed well as did Sony and Panasonic TVs.
