It has been reported that department store John Lewis aims to increase its own brand furniture and homewares business to £1 billion in annual revenue by 2020, as well as expand its exclusive relationships with external brands.

Putting design credentials and quality at the heart of its plans, John Lewis will be introducing its new Design Project collection in Autumn which will be a contemporary 250 piece collection designed in-house and they are continuing to build on their own brands which include House and Croft.

The department store also launched some exclusive collaborations with brands such as West Elm and Loaf, with Loaf designing five exclusive pieces which will be available in 22 fabrics.

As well as investing £14 million in the flagship Oxford Street store, it has also opened new ‘Home Hub’ departments at Horsham, Birmingham and Basingstoke. These are dedicated areas bringing together all of John Lewis’ home services.

Buying director for Home at John Lewis, Christine Kasoulis, said: “£1 billion sales from our own brand will be a landmark milestone for John Lewis, and it's a reflection of our belief in our John Lewis design credentials and assortment. I’m passionate about the products our in-house design team are creating, and this ambition will be led by our latest collection, Design Project. It’s a visually arresting collection with items which are thoughtfully designed and made from the best materials.”
