JD Sports have posted record profits for the first half of the financial year, rising by 33% to £102.7m whilst revenue for the six months to July 29th stood at £1.4bn, up by 41%. As well as the company opening new stores in many of its existing territories, it also began operating in Australia, opening its first stores in the region. Peter Cowgill, JD Sports executive chairman, commented on the progress that the company has made, adding that it has “strengthened our foundations by significant progression internationally both instore and online so that the JD fascia now has a much broader store and multichannel consumer reach and brand influence globally.”
