It has been revealed that investor group Midlothian Capital Partners and Hattington Capital have bought Dobbies Garden Centres, which are owned by Tesco and the supermarket will be receiving £217 million.
Chief executive at Tesco, Dave Lewis, said: "It was a difficult decision to sell the business, but we believe this agreement will give Dobbies a bright future, while allowing our UK retail business to focus on its core strengths."
Having purchased the garden centre for £150 million in 2007, it is the second biggest garden centre retailer and has 35 centres across England, Northern Ireland and Scotland.
Tesco will remain selling a selection of home and garden items through its own stores and online.
